Why we care about being organic

If this sounds like a really simple question to you, you’re right, it is, and that’s good, because it means that you think like we do. For us, being organic is all about doing things the right way and as with all things in life, if you want to do the best job you possibly can then you have to focus on the fundamentals.

When we first started here at Vegavero we had three important objectives: first, we wanted to provide the highest quality nutritional supplements on the market. Second, we wanted to make sure that we were in control of what exactly what goes into our products, with nothing hidden in the small print. Finally, we wanted to build a brand that you can trust.

Trust is a hard thing. It cannot be given, bought, coerced or wooed. It must be earned and that’s why we set out to earn it from day one. The process behind our products can be long; a twisting journey that moves from ingredients through production and packaging, dancing across the globe before arriving safely in your home.

It’s our promise to you that our team of consultants, nutritionists, and specialists are on hand for every step of the journey to make sure that your nutrition is the best it can possibly be.

Organic certification is not always an easy process. The regulations surrounding certification are stringent and lengthy. Make no mistake, this is not a bad thing, in fact we approve. Therefore, wherever possible our products are designed to meet, exceed and raise the bar of these exacting standards.

Unlike a lot of companies out there, our products are produced here in Germany, on site, by us. Our organic certification is provided by PCU whose job it is to test us throughout this process. We work with PCU because they represent the highest standards of quality.

What is organic exactly?

Organic means that our products are grown with a little bit more love. That means there’s no synthetic fertiliser, no pesticides and no GMO. When you farm in this way, it’s a whole lot harder but the results are so much more satisfying. Yes, you might lose a little bit more of the crop, but plenty of studies show that organic farms have a lower environmental impact, greater biodiversity and real sustainability. We think that’s a price worth paying. That’s objective number one. Check.

Number two is about transparency. We know how important it is that you know exactly what is in your products and even more so when it is going inside your body. That’s why we never hide the origins of our products and we work tirelessly to make sure that our partners in the field source the raw materials from the best places possible where these incredible plants grow naturally.

PCU verifies the presence and amount of organic material in a final product and tracks the flow of a raw material from its source to the final product. Wherever we are, they are too. Before any of our products receive the organic stamp of approval this whole process is certified by another accredited, independent third party.

Sometimes though, you have to think about more than just the ingredients. We’re organic simply because it is who we are. We believe in the power of the world around us and we show our ingredients the level of respect that they deserve.

How it’s made

Our products are designed to help you take care of yourself and that’s why we take such care designing them. It’s easy to forget sometimes that any single one of our vitamins has been meticulously designed, planned and finally realised. That chain of supply includes processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution. All of which must meet the PCU organic content standard.

Take our superfood mix for example. Just one tub of our all-in-one Organic Superfood powder contains 17 different superfoods. From spirulina to wheatgrass, turmeric to nettle, matcha, moringa and more; each organic and of the highest quality.

We collect it, mix it, pack it and ship it ourselves with you in mind. In the end our hard work shines through because it is one of our best-selling products and we know that part of the reason you love it so much is because we didn’t cut any corners along the way.

To us though, organic is so much more than a certificate, a trademark or a way of growing; organic is an attitude. It’s a commitment to quality and care that transcends our products and is imbued in everything that we try to do as a company. Maybe that means working alongside small businesses, running marathons, food sharing and supporting causes that we believe in.

Vitamins are a daily routine and we think that it’s only fair that if we ask you to make us a part of your life, then that part should represent your ideas, ethics and preferences from start to finish.

What about your synthetic products?

Unfortunately, it isn’t always possible to find an organic source for everything. Some vitamins simply cannot be made organically to the standards of quality that we set for ourselves. Thus, they then have to be produced synthetically.

When this happens, we have a decision to make. We can do one of two things: we can take the product off the market or we can try to find the next best solution. For this we have to listen to you, our customers, to find out whether this is something that you really need and if so we will make it, if not, we won’t, it’s that simple.

Just because one ingredient in a product isn’t organic doesn’t mean that we let our standards slip. When we can’t ensure that a product is completely organic, we work even harder to find the perfect balance. We want you to be sure that we are selling quality products and that you know you’re really going to get what you paid for.

We’re never going to make a product simply because it sells. We care about you and we care about our image and we know better than most that just because something is popular, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it works.

That’s objective number three: building a brand that you can trust. When we tell you that we have a new product; you can be sure that it’s good. Why? Because we spent a long time researching, sourcing, tweaking and refining it until we got it right. For that reason, we may not ever be the first product on the market, the best seller or the lowest price. But we aren’t here to find the next flash-in-the-pan fad. We’re here to bring you a quality product that really makes sense for you and your body.

So, why are we organic? Because we care about our products, we care about you and we care about our reputation. A simple question for sure, but by no means an easy answer. Organic isn’t always easy but in our minds, it is absolutely worth it.
